Night over the Kochi backwaters, in the rain. A refinery flare burns past the container cranes, a Chinese fishing net and a lone canoe sit on the dark water, crows wait on the power lines, and a single bulb sways under a tea shop roof.

A detective story, file still open

The Rough Book Cases

My resume, as the cases I’ve already solved. Follow along and guess how I cracked them.

Why a detective game?

I always wanted to be a detective. I love patterns, psychology and working things out. Maybe it comes from my late grandfather, who I’m told was a kickass officer in the CID.

My approach to product management is much the same. Most of it feels like solving a crime. So here’s my resume as the cases I’ve cracked: look at the evidence, and guess what I did.

There are more. These are the ones I remember off the top of my head. Like any detective, I forget a few, so more will turn up here as they come back to me, and as new ones land on my desk.

Maybe I’ll still end up solving crimes someday ;)Sanjay

The cases are dramatised from real work and the dialogue is invented. What actually happened is real. Sound is off unless you turn it on.
